The aim of the Disaster Awareness and Education Center is to create a new landmark for the city, while at the same time providing a park and building of great use to the public in both ordinary times and during emergencies. The Bayraklı region in Izmir has unfortunately experienced several disasters in the past. Such a center would serve as a focal point for disseminating knowledge and raising awareness about various hazards and their potential impacts. The Planetarium Theater is the main attraction of the design, where visitors can watch shows about astronomy and space exploration also will be used to teach people about natural disasters that occur in space such as solar flares, asteroids, and meteorites.
