The re-use of idle industrial buildings allows for sustainable projects by reducing Co2 emissions. Through restoration and adaptive re-use processes, existing buildings are preserved while acquiring new functions, thereby minimizing environmental impacts with energy-efficient solutions. This approach contributes to the preservation of historical and cultural heritage while contributing a sustainable future. Adaptive re-use transforms idle industrial buildings into public spaces, creating new areas for living and working, while serving as a model for environmental sustainability. In this project, located in the Alsancak port area, one of the idle industrial buildings, the Eski Şark Sanayii complex, the buildings were restored and adjacent volumes were added to the main structures, resulting in the creation of a new public area.
