Urban transformation is our most significant weapon in fighting against earthquakes, a reality in Turkey. The shanty towns comprise a large part of Izmir and are not compliant with earthquake regulations. Our responsibility is to increase urban transformation in these areas. The goal of this project is to create a plan for these areas. The project site is located in the Konak district of Izmir. According to the data obtained, there are 140 residential units within the project area. The project is composed of complementary modules. The arrangement of these modules is akin to how blocks fit together in Tetris, which results in terraces of different sizes at each level. The project faces the Izmir Gulf; generally, all facades are positioned to receive light. The two-story units have ensuite bathrooms and come in different designs of 3-room and 2-room options.
